Designing compound curved surfaces is a contemporary concept for Architects, Designers and Engineers.
Most other design disciplines however, have been familiar with these forms for a long time. The maritime, automotive and aeronautical industries use compound curves in almost every item produced. Industrial desingers create commercial, industrial and domestic products using 3D curves on a daily basis. We are surrounded by objects and equipment with soft corners, flowing shapes and gentle forms.
The built environment however, is still dominated by straight lines, flat surfaces and sharp angles because suitable construction materials have not been previously available. Flexene has been developed to enable progressive Architects and Designers meet the new challanges of surface & form.
