Flexene is manufactured from construction grade, fire retarded expanded polystyrene (EPS). The closed cellular structure of Flexene contributes to its many beneficial characteristics.
Flexene Systems Pty Ltd is commited to extensive testing and continued product development to ensure a high quality product and compatibility with support methods and durable finishing systems. Please refer to the website for more detailed testing & approvals information.
MOISTURE:
Flexene is vapour permeable allowing the material to “breathe”. Waterproofing is achived with the application of waterproof flashings and coatings.
DURABILITY:
When correctly detailed, installed and surface maintained Flexene can expect to have a long servicable life. EPS has been in use as a cladding material for over 50 years, providing excellent continual service.
FIRE RESISTANCE:
Flexene is manufactured from fire-retarded grade EPS GRADE 54. Recommended renders and plaster products applied to Flexene are manufactured from non-combustible materials. Where required the frame supporting the Flexene is constructed using non-combustible materials. The specifier must check with local
authorities to ensure that the completed assembly complies with all relevant codes & regulations. Flexene assemblies have been tested in accordance with AS/NZ 3837:1998 resulting in a NON-COMBUSTABLE classification.
GROUP 1. APPROVED LIMITATIONS:
Flexene is a cladding or lining material not a loadbearing element. Flexene is a substrate, requiring a weather resistant barrier to be applied to external locations. Flexene must not be installed where it is in contact with the ground or hot objects such as chimney flues or fireplaces.
